Cultivation Study: Sugarcane I (2026)
Cultivation Study: Sugarcane I (2026) is painted on raw linen through successive translucent layers of pigment, which allows the image to emerge gradually from the textile surface. Golden ochres, softened greens, oxidised yellows, and faded vegetal tones evoke the changing conditions of sugarcane fields during periods of harvest, dryness, and late light.
The composition moves between presence and erosion, carrying the slow rhythms of cultivation and memory within the material structure of the painting itself.
Presented as a suspended scroll, the work exists between painting, textile, and archival object. Its vertical format gives the piece a calm architectural presence while allowing the linen to retain its softness, movement, and tactile character.
For Collectors
Cultivation Study: Sugarcane I (2026) is a unique original work. No editions or reproductions are produced. Each scroll is hand-stitched and painted entirely by hand, allowing the pigment to settle gradually into the linen surface through layered translucent applications.
The scroll arrives ready to hang, with wooden dowel and cotton cord included. The work is shipped directly from the artist’s studio in Ireland and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
